Maisha Farm
A small piece of rented land doing a lot of work: feeding the children in our care, and generating income for everything else they need.
Maisha runs a small-scale agriculture project on two rented acres, growing maize as the backbone crop. After harvest, the maize is milled into flour for posho and porridge — daily staples at the centre — with the surplus sold to cover other essentials: soap, sugar, salt, clothes, and shoes for the children.
Alongside the maize, the farm grows vegetables and fruit — eggplants, onions, tomatoes, leafy greens, passion fruit, avocados, and oranges — to round out the children's diets with something beyond staple carbohydrates.
It's a modest operation by design: land the foundation can afford to rent, worked to produce as much food and income as possible, so less of every donation has to go toward feeding the children we already support.
Help expand the farm
More land means more food security for the children's home.
